Wow. Twenty Years.

Wow. Twenty years, two decades, thousands of artists, almost every venue in Hockley, international stars, local legends, and most importantly, a quarter of a million pounds raised for 27 local charities.

The Hustle has always been something that has evolved, grown, shrunk, stopped and started again. It is beautifully messy, gloriously chaotic and, although faces on the team have changed over the years, it still holds the same raw, DIY, grassroots energy it began with in 2006.

Raising money has always been at the heart of the festival, but the Hustle has grown into something more. It is now a year round, collaborative and colourful celebration of Nottingham’s brilliance. The people, the artists, the venues, the promoters, the families, the communities, the food and the art all play a part in making it feel so special.

We have seen 70 piece orchestras perform with world class vocalists, and tiny rooms packed with people listening to a single acoustic guitar. We have filled the streets with samba and silent discos, brought choirs to the steps of Broadway and hosted beatbox battles in The Bodega.

It has been a truly wonderful journey.

This year, let’s raise as much as we possibly can. Buying a ticket is a brilliant way to support the festival, but we would also love people to do some fundraising of their own for the charities we have chosen as a team.

At a time when life feels increasingly difficult and uncertain for so many, let’s pour as much love and support as possible into these brilliant local organisations.
