The purpose of this policy is to give a clear explanation of how we collect and use your personal data, and your options regarding the data we store. This privacy policy governs the use of the Hockley Hustle website and related platforms such as our ticketing partner Gigantic UK (for wristband and ticket purchases) and Resend (for our mailing list). This policy was last updated on 25/09/2026.

Information collection

Via this website and associated online platforms, we collect personal information in a number of ways.

Information you give us:For example, when you contact us via this website, sign up to our mailing list, apply to volunteer, or purchase a ticket via our ticketing partner Gigantic UK, we'll store personal information provided such as your name and email address. We will also keep a record of your purchases and contact preferences.

Information about your interactions with us: When we send you a mailing we store a record of this, including which emails you have opened and which links you have clicked on.

Cookies: Cookies are small text files that are automatically placed onto your device by some websites you visit. We use cookies to identify how the website is being used and what improvements we can make. All cookies are anonymous and cannot be traced back to you individually.

Mailing list and Resend

If you sign up to our mailing list, your details are stored securely with Resend, our email provider. Resend processes your data on our behalf in accordance with its own privacy policy, which you can read at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy. Resend may process data on servers outside the UK and EEA; where this happens, it does so under appropriate safeguards recognised by UK data protection law.

We will never sell your details or pass them to third parties for their own marketing. Your details are only used by Hockley Hustle and the Hustle Collective family, which includes Green Hustle and Young Hustlers, so we can keep you up to date about our festivals, events and projects. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.

Accounts and My Hustle

You can save venues and acts to “My Hustle” without an account; that list lives only in your browser. If you sign in (with Google or an emailed link), we store your email address, your name if you give one, your newsletter preference and the venues and acts you have saved, so that your list follows you between devices. We never see or store a password. If your email is already on our mailing list, your newsletter preference is set to match it. You can change your details, opt in or out of the newsletter, and delete your account, with everything it holds, from your profile page at any time. Signing in with Google shares your name, email and profile picture with us and nothing else; Google's own privacy policy applies to your Google account.

If you keep or share your Hustle as a link, we store what's in it so the short link works: the venues and acts, and the first name you choose to add (or your account name, if you're signed in). Never your email. Anyone you give the link to can see what's in it, and we count how often a link is opened. To stop people sending lots of sign-in emails or links, we keep a scrambled (hashed) record of recent requests for up to a day; it can't be turned back into your email or IP address.

When you bring someone else's Hustle into yours, or restore an earlier one, we keep a copy of your Hustle as it was first so you can get it back: the last ten in your browser, or the last twenty on your account if you're signed in. They go when you delete your account.

We also count how many times each venue and act is saved, across everyone, so we know what people are looking forward to. It's a number per venue or act and nothing else: not who saved it, and not linked to your browser or your account.

Legal basis

There are three legal bases under which we may process your data.

Contract purposes: When you purchase a ticket or make a donation, you are entering into a contract with us. In order to perform this contract we need to process and store your data. For example, we may need to contact you by email in the case of event changes or any problems with your payment.

Legitimate interest: In certain situations we collect and process your personal data for purposes that are in our legitimate organisational interests, such as evaluating our work and improving the festival, provided there is no overriding prejudice to you.

With your explicit consent: For any situations where the two bases above are not appropriate, we will instead ask for your explicit consent before using your personal information.

Third parties

Beyond the platforms identified above, we will never share your data with third parties without requesting explicit permission before doing so.

Security of your personal information

We put in place appropriate safeguards, in terms of both our procedures and the technology we use, to keep your personal information as secure as possible. We ensure that any third parties we use for processing your personal information do the same.

Maintaining your personal information

If there are aspects of your record that are inaccurate or that you would like removed, please use the contact details in this policy. We will only store your personal information for as long as necessary. We keep your contact details on our mailing list until you unsubscribe or become inactive. Records of donations are kept for 7 years after the end of the financial year of the transaction for financial reporting purposes.

Your rights

You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. You also have the right to object to processing carried out under our legitimate organisational interests. Please contact us using the details above to exercise these rights.
